The Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center (FAMCC) is pleased to announce Military Surplus, a new display of additional Civil War firearms and militaria collected by Dr. Ralph W. Johnson in the early 20th century. While the FAMCC has long had dozens of pieces from the Johnson Gun Collection on display, additional items formerly on loan to the National Park Service have recently been gifted from the City of Fredericksburg to the FAMCC. “The addition of these 21 pieces reunites a significant portion of this important collection,” commented Director of Collections & Exhibitions, Christopher Uebelhor.

Some of the firearms include a Confederate contract Sharps carbine and a Spencer repeating rifle, in addition to bullets, bayonets, and tools. They are on display through the spring in the Documents Gallery of the Catherine W. Jones McKann Center, 1001 Princess Anne Street.
