About Dressing the Modern Woman

Learn about the evolution of women’s clothing and the female silhouette with the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc. and the Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center during a special presentation called, Dressing the Modern Woman on Saturday, March 15 from 1:00- 3:00 pm. Watch as live models and presenters explore the layers that create the familiar shapes of the Colonial, Civil War, and Victorian fashions.

Historic clothing scholars from the Rappahannock Colonial Heritage Society, the Civil War Civilians of Spottsylvania, and Costumer’s Guild West, Inc. will be discussing historic clothing replicas that they have created themselves, as well as their experiences in studying and constructing garments.

The event will be held at the Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center in the Town Hall building on the 3rd floor. (907 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg) There is no fee to attend the presentation, but guests should call to reserve their seat.
