Job Title: Visitor Services Representative
Reports To: Visitor Services and Retail Manager
Exempt or Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt
F/T or P/T: P/T
Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent.
Experience: Some previous customer service experience helpful, but not required. Familiarity with computer data entry helpful.
Provide visitor assistance. Job duties will be performed primarily within the Museum, but occasionally will be done at off-site locations.
Follow Museum opening/closing procedures, including activating/de-activating building alarms. Sell admissions to visitors, entering appropriate admission information in the computer. Reconcile computer information with cash received at end of day.
When requested, provide written and verbal information to visitors about current and future exhibits. (Representatives must have a working knowledge of what exhibits are being shown, what they are about, and what kinds of artifacts they contain. Such knowledge will be obtained periodically through training provided by Museum staff.)
Answer visitor questions, and refer visitors to appropriate staff if unable to provide the requested information.
Know the looks and general contents of each exhibit to assist in exhibit security.
Ensure visitor evacuation in case of emergency.
Attend staff meetings and mandatory training sessions.
Providing customer assistance in The Museum Store, process merchandise sold through POS system. Reconcile POS information with cash and credit card sales at the end of the day. Follow Museum Store opening/closing procedures.
Provide receptionist services for Museum by answering the phone, transferring calls and taking messages.
Assist with Museum functions, as required, including those scheduled on evenings and weekends.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
