Kitty Quarles was born in Marshall, Virginia in 1929. She grew up in Fauquier County and moved to Fredericksburg after finishing at Stuart Hall School in Staunton Virginia and Harcum College in Pennsylvania. She worked at UMW until she married Doug Quarles in 1951. Together they raised their five children in Fredericksburg. And they continue their union and friendship today!

Over the years Kitty has volunteered for numerous organizations in the area. Some of her favorites are St. George’s Episcopal Church, The George Washington Foundation, The Fredericksburg Area Museum, The Rappahannock Valley Garden Club and The Garden Club of Virginia. She has also served on the Board of Stuart Hall School.

Kitty has always loved to entertain her family and friends. Her home reflects that love, where she enjoys cooking, flower arranging, needlework and photography. Her interest in travel provides her with inspiration for these hobbies. She remains a happy and energetic lady who is ready to take on a project or learn something new!
