Art Comes Alive is held every fall in conjunction with Via Colori Fredericksburg, offering a nighttime celebration during a weekend dedicated to supporting the local arts. Live music adds excitement to the air while leading local artists paint plein air. All artwork is auctioned at the end of the evening to benefit FAMCC.
Artists are chosen to represent different genres, mediums, and interpretations, reflecting a small sampling of Fredericksburg’s talent. This year’s participants included Ed King, Nancy Brittle, Nicholas Candela, Kenneth Moore, Tanya Richey, Kathleen Willingham, Lorie McCown and Ana Rendich.
The music performer was Big Joe Maher and his Big Four Combo, a blues and jazz legend in the Washington D.C. area for over thirty years.
FAMCC’s partnership with Via Colori Fredericksburg offers a full complement of activities for the community. While families will enjoy the street painting festival during the weekend afternoons, the evening festivities with Art Comes Alive! in the Catherine W. Jones McKann Center is suitable for adults of all ages. Through music, live painting, and fare, attendees will have the opportunity to appreciate the vibrant arts and cultural community within Fredericksburg.
